As we approach Thanksgiving Day we have a lot to be thankful for here at Outsell along with the excitement of going home to visit family and friends. Eating all that delicious food is great…but it’s also a time to remember those that are less fortunate or have fallen on tough times.

Last year we started the Joyce Uptown Food Shelf Food Drive and Outsell Charity Competition Fundraiser. The premise of the event is to bring in items for the local food shelf, but also awards the team that brings in the most items with $500 for their respective Outsell Charity.

Outsell’s original total goal of 600 items was quickly doubled to 1250 during the competition, but by the end, the combined teams hit well over 5000 items, a total of 3250 pounds, which almost tripled our amount from the year before, along with a monetary donation for the Joyce Uptown Food Shelf.

Teams were separated amongst departments, with a member of the senior leadership team on each. Mike Wethington, Founder & CEO of Outsell, however, was quickly ‘voted off the island’ from his team and placed on his own Team Outsell to better ensure fairness. The other teams included Outsell Charities: Make-A-Wish, Feed My Starving Children, The Humane Society, Bridges to Learning, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

After some tough competition and much email smack-talking, a winning team came ahead victorious: Bridges to Learning. Congratulants to everyone who participated, making this holiday season a true example of giving. Stay tuned for more on our Christmas fundraiser yet to come!
